You're just NOW finding this out? The inequity of treatment/meds has been like that for some years! What care one gets in one state greatly differs from other states. There are STILL waiting lists for meds and MD's in many states! We'd love to move to TN to be close to our grandchildren, but we'd not receive the care there we do here.
Hey dc2nice in Lynbrook, call Thursday's Child out in Patchogue, I am curious as to what hospital ignored your HIV med request and why. There may be a good reason for it but cannot tell without more info. Did you ask them to explain their treatment of you? Could be quite logical reasons for it, but call TC if you need advocacy help!
I am wondering if The ADAP Waiting Lists are being taken into low treatment rates in this analysis. If not, it needs to be looked at AND reported.
I was in the hospital and they did not have my retroviral meds.I told the ER Dr. and the nurses when I was admitted. They could have cared less. They wanted someone where I lived 2 get my MEDS. I had no one. I came in 911 so there was no time for me 2 pick up meds. So I missed one day. And it wasn''t until the next day that I asked to get a supervisor. They had my Norvir and Truvada which they gave me and then had the Dr. discharge m . No Lexiva. There's more to this story. What can I do?

I find it hard to believe that Alabama is doing so well. UAB is great, but the homophobia level down there - I know from personal experience - is about circa 1955. I bet there are a lot of people in Ala who just don't get tested.
