I'm not on social media and miss a lot of stuff like this, thank you for sharing this story. I find this to be an opportunity to bring up a point. There are not many straight men willing to endure the struggles of HIV advocacy.I had a chance to talk to several who no longer do HIV advocacy and have learned why those few no longer advocate.Being pegged as gay and/or having an onslaught of men wanting to hookup doesn't make for a welcoming environment. Stereotypes are a plenty when it comes to HIV

Shawn, thanks for taking the opportunity to educate people. I'm an HIV positive woman so I take the opportunity, whenever I can, to share my unique perspective on the disease and urge everyone to get tested. I'm living proof, along with you, that people who aren't gay and who don't use drugs, can still get HIV/AIDS. Like you, I'm thankful that I acquired it when and where I did so that I'm still alive and kicking.
