Now that we can live, even thrive, with HIV, this is the battle we're fighting. Stigma is everyone's enemy because it keeps people from being tested. And, today, being tested can save your life. Every opportunity to confront this ignorance needs to be met head-on. I'm thankful to those at POZ.com and the Sero Project for publicizing what too many still believe--that people with HIV/AIDS somehow deserve it. ALL adults are responsible for their own behavior.
I agree with most of the other commenters. There is no excuse for any adult person in this day & age of information in regards to safe sex, HIV and other STDS's to be ignorant, lazy, lusting and unprotected. The so called victim is really his own enemy
Look people we have to stop putting the blame on the postive person ,when in fact .you made the choose to sleep with that person without protection , the olny way we are going to get a handle on HIV is to assume everyone has HIV/AIDS and make the choice to protect YOURSELF . Your rule should be No Glove No Love !!
As an outreach worker for people who live with the virus, i have to sat that these laws putting hiv+ individuals under any carges are too severe. people should know by now that the virus is still out there and they should be responsible for using protection in any sexual relationship. therefore the person who is positive should not be solely to blame. these laws should be updated and made less severe for these individuals who unfortunately live with this sentence already.
this person has a habit of asking after having sex if he is +ve he might have got it from some body else other than this police man.
That 24 year old is an adult, if he has concerns about someones HIV status he should ask the question before having sex. The police officer was honest when asked about his HIV status when asked, he could have lied and charging him would just punish someone for being honest. He could have said he was HIV negative and that would have been the end of the discussion. Protect your self...we live in 2013 and all know HIV is out there.
People have to stop placing Blame. YES its wrong to have HIV and have unprotected sex but people need to take precautions. What about the people that are positive and dont know it. Wrap it people. and if you dont and get infected, it is no ones fault but your own. simple as that. If you have it, wrap it. plain and simple. Thats just wrong.

Who is to say.. the 24 yr old didn't purposly seek out a + individual so he could lay blame on a known person ?? Just playing devils advocate .. After blaming the other guy for years ..I finally realized my status is my own !!I made the choice to have sex..21 years positive here
