Coinciding with the annual gay-themed White Party held Easter weekend in Palm Springs—which boasts one of the nation’s largest gay communities—the Desert AIDS Project (DAP) is launching an Internet-based HIV education and prevention program for men who have sex with men (MSM), The Desert Sun reports.

“With the White Party literally in our backyard, we feel a responsibility each year to get out the message about safer sex while not throwing the proverbial wet blanket on the fun people are here for,” David Brinkman, executive director of the AIDS service oganization, said in a statement.

According to the article, the I-Connect program will allow DAP staff members to distribute information on HIV prevention, mental health and substance abuse on several websites. In addition, staff members will be on hand all weekend in the lobby of the Wyndham, the White Party host hotel. DAP hopes to reach 3,000 people during the program’s first year.
