I knew Jaci back when I held a seat on the Philadelphia HIV Commission. I had never known anyone transgendered before her. While I didn't hold a bias, I had no clear idea of things either. She displayed a dignity that wouldn't allow for anything but respect. Later in life I worked with another transgendered woman. I had the ability to immediately recognize the person, not the situation because Jaci taught me through her strength and dignity to see the person first.
