HIV/AIDS advocate Kory Montoya has died. A New Mexico Apache, Montoya held numerous leadership roles throughout the years in the Native American HIV/AIDS community.

According to Robert Foley, executive director of the National Native American AIDS Prevention Center, Montoya died at home in Portland, Oregon. Montoya was featured on the cover of POZ in March 2008.
