The 25th Annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles in West Hollywood, drew 30,000 people and raised more than $3.1 million—$100,000 shy of last year’s total, KABC-TV reports. That money will benefit AIDS service organizations in the Los Angeles area.

Among the celebrities who attended the Sunday, October 18, event, was Felicity Huffman, one of the stars of ABC’s Desperate Housewives.

The first AIDS Walk in the world began in Los Angeles in 1985. Since then it has become the country’s largest AIDS fund-raiser.

“Today in L.A., there are 60,000 people living with HIV, and as many as a quarter of them don’t even know they are infected,” said Colin Weil of the AIDS Project Los Angeles. “It’s so important that we get them into testing and get them into [treatment] early so they stay healthy.”
