When I gave my status at a dentist some time ago it was also disclosed to all in the waiting area when the receptionist shouted it across the room. When he "said she had put him and his staff at risk" he was admitting that he was not performing safe procedures, which should be mandatory for all patients as he will have dealt with patients who were HIV+ but didn't know it. The onus is always on the health practitioner to operate safely. To deny pain medication was further proof of bad practice.

Did this lady fail to inform the dentist beforehand that she is HIV+? It seems so from the dentist's reaction. Whenever I go to any dentist I have to fill out or else update a medical form on which is asked if I have any pre-existing conditions including any blood conditions. Also, that form asked about what medication I am on. People are very scared of HIV. Anyway, it seems to me that the dentist called her disgusting for not revealing her HIV+ status which she should have done.
