Plus and Minus. Increasingly many are surviving HIV+. Physically I feel wonderful now in my 32nd year. Sadly many friends and family members have died. I miss my long term partner every day although he passed 27 years ago. This sadness that I have outlived so many still gets me down. Still mingle with people and bring smiles to their faces but feel sad inside at times. Do count my blessings though.

I live in a very isolated town for the gay community. I also live in a senior section 8 apartment where I live a secret life. Friday my caregiver takes me to the grocery store. I can't afford to go to the gay bars which when I did have money I was for the most part ignored. I have a letter published in Positively Aware this month for those whom on medicaid. I feel like I have no purpose anymore and it would be nice to have someone to talk to. All my friends died.

I've looked for information on ft Lauderdale, and cannot find any yet. I would love to be pointed towards a newsletter or mailing list as I would be interested in attending.

Reunions are wonderful, but you have to be able to afford them, there many of who are aging, out on SSDI for full blown AIDS and mental health, Bipolar, substance abuse. I didn't read about this population, as many as 25% of all diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. I didn't read it, so I'm hoping assistance is being made to make these reunions inclusive of all who are aging with HIV/AIDS.

This event sounds wonderful. I was born positive in 1981 and it's always inspiring to hear from fellow long term survivors. I wish I had known about the event in Philly. Please keep us posted about future events and hopefully I can attend one that is close to me.

I am a long term survivor, diagnosed (+) in 1986, but sure that I was infected as far back as 1980-2 in the Bay Area, one of the several "ground zeroes." I am very healthy today, but wasn't always...it has been a LONG journey. I just wish I had others with whom to share it, and perhaps encourage and/or help.
