I can remember the humiliation of rectal temp checking at the Naval base hospital in Charleston, SC. They reused the same thermometers on all the kids, with proper precautions
I had it and never had a blood transfusion, but I believe I got it during service when they were doing air shots and people were bleeding from moving in 75
That is how I caught Hepatitis..through a transfusion after my last baby was born, in 1977
I am sure that dental instruments had part in Hepatitis C in the population.
My late husband dialed from HepC, cirrhosis of the liver. He would be 67 now if he lived. He did do drugs in late 60’s & early 70’s. He did some shooting up. But said he never shared needles. He always believed he got it in early 80’s from blood transfusion after a motorcycle accident. It kills me to know they came out with the cure not long after he died.
I would like to know what studies of genotype 2 have found. Do you have any information?
Since the Red Cross did not screen for it, anyone that received a blood transfusion probably was exposed. I was after a car accident

Dental cleanings were also a factor. They did not sterilize utensils!
