I found the backlash against them for not mentioning the word "AIDS" in their speeches to be misdirected. The film speaks for itself, and would never have been made if McConaughey hadn't passed on whatever superhero projects might have paid him millions, slashed his salary, and brought this important piece of AIDS history to the screen. I'm grateful for that. Besides, the Golden Globes is a drunken party, and social messages are typically better suited for the Oscars. Let's hope!
