This article and interview are a much needed blessing to the community, and personally, myself. I have never heard anyone speak of this like this, despite its sad undertone, you still presented and shared your stories with compassion and hope. Everyday is a battle. This is just the tip of the iceberg, but I am so grateful to have read this, heard this and made to feel less alone in my own journey. Thank you for your courage and vulnerability.

Great to read, Meth still kills. I'm 65 but still would find it hard to avoid meth if I ran in those circles again. I can understand how meth and sex are one. The guy who turned me on to shooting it gave me HIV and he died in 1995 of AIDS at 28. We both were married with kids and left our families for meth. I remember him saying he wanted to stay strong enough to do that one last 8 ball of meth. If I were to bang it as I once did I would stroke out. Thank u Mark A. King for your article.

An excellent, honest piece, one that is so much needed. I'm very interested in the part where the guy got 20-30 "hate messages" after he told of his friends OD. Challenging a gay man about his behavior, even if in his best interest, even if it saves his life, is considered off-limits. Where did this come from? Why does the stubborn, hate-laden mob strike out? Why is our sexual behavior off-limits for reproach given so many of the awful consequences?

A great tool for those who seek recovery from crystal meth is Crystal Meth Anonymous, a 12-step program designed for those who wish to stop using crystal meth. The program is based on the AA program and principles, but is uniquely able to address the specific issues that come from using meth. Website: www.crystalmeth.org
