His HIV status is completely immaterial! As a healthcare provider, I am appalled that the press would promote hysteria. Law enforcement agencies, I am certain have been trained to practice universal precautions, which if performed correctly makes the illness of the individual a moot point. Additionally, HIV does no discriminate, and The criminal's status does not warrant a public outcry by the media!

Once again the media is relating HIV to something negative or sinful. This is why there is a subconscious and most times blatantly conscious stigma toward people with HIV...Being thought of as immoral or evil. Plus, this is a violation of medical privacy. He is a burglar not a serial rapist.
