Working at The NY Blood Center as a research assistant on the Hep B vaccine study I found out I was HIV + in 1984. Coincidentally my bloods samples were stored as far back as 1978 at the Blood Center. By testing those saved samples it was determined I seroconverted between 1978-79. I am 66 and have lived with HIV for more than half my life. I would love to join a long-term HIV survivor study.
Soon to be 60, living with HIV and Bipolar since 1996, in public housing, disabled 19 years and working part-time and volunteering in a local CAB on HIV and Mental Health & Aging, I'm happy to know all of the above and more is being included. I'm always alone, but always with people as I struggle each day just getting out of my head so that I can get out and about. As I'm aging, panic attacks, monthly, as all of what I've achieved MH recovery comes to a halt with just one hospital visit.
I would love to be involved as I am 32 years, more than half my life Poz. I also am a practicing attorney which may be helpful.
I've been poz since Feb 7th 1983 a total of 35 years now.
Tested + June 1988, had tested - January 1987, pretty sure I can pinpoint HIV contact to October 1987.
This would be great being a long term survivor 29 years .They have something coming up in September in Chicago . I wanted to volunteer but September kind of tricky . Being a mom and all. But I will be following the story .
This is awesome! I live in Nashville and have been trying to get my local aso to have some kind of program for LTS in middle TN. I have been unsuccessful but an hour giving up. I'm 47 and have been pos for 26 yrs, never expected to live this long. I recently went on disability and learned my long term insurance doesn't cover my condition. In Nashville housing has reached an unaffordable level for people in lower income brackets. I've waited for housing help for over a year and am now homeless.

I tested positive in Aug. 1986, but was hospitalized in Oct. 1978 in Mpls;, MN. They didn't know what I had. In 1985 I was transferred by AT&T to New Jersey. where I met the love of my life. Unfortunately, he died from AIDS 7 years later, and it has been lonely since. I am back in South Dakota now, where I grew up, and isolated from ever meeting someone again. I have considered moving, but the thought of starting over at my age, doesn't appeal to me any longer.
