GMHC (Gay Men’s Health Crisis) has always been on the front lines in the fight against HIV/AIDS. So it’s no surprise it now offers housing to clients in New York City. “The top concern for the 10,000 clients GMHC sees every year is housing,” says CEO Kelsey Louie. The 25 units are already occupied; all the residents are HIV-positive undocumented immigrants, and GMHC offered related services to those wishing to become legal citizens. GMHC plans to expand its housing program soon, proving the adage that housing equals health care.
