The Latino Commission on AIDS (LCOA) will be giving Pedro Julio Serrano, communications manager for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, its 2013 Dennis de Leon Voz de Compromiso Award, according to a LCOA statement. Named after the LCOA founder, the award is given annually to people living with HIV/AIDS who dedicate themselves to spreading awareness about the disease. The Puerto Rican native has received numerous awards over the years for his activism. The award will be given to Serrano May 17 during the annual LCOA Cielo Latino Gala fundraiser.
