PhiladelphiaMayor Nutter unveiled the Freedom Condom as part of a new campaign to prevent sexuallytransmitted infections (STIs) among young people, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. In addition to a specially designed condom,the campaign includes a website takecontrolphilly.org with free online ordering,and an iPhone app to locate the nearest condom distribution site. The campaign aimsto reduce the 40 percent rise of new HIV cases among city teens and youngadults as well as the increase in other STIs. The campaign also includesbroader education about STIs and heightened efforts to find and treat infectedteens, their partners and others in their sexual network.
