Sean - Our Board Chair is HIV+ and as a result he is denied assistance provided by HOPWA funds. In the past we have run into difficulty inviting clients to serve on the Board because they are then unable to access federal HOPWA assistance for rent, electricity and utilities. Although there is a process whereby an HIV+ Board member can petition the feds, it is arduous and can take 6-12 months. More government-enforced stigma by a program that is supposed to help the HIV+ community.
