Nick44, you are rather naive, aren't you. Genetic editing is like playing God and could be highly dangerous with unforeseen consequences. Of course they will try it first on monkeys. Although we have some idea how the genetic code works, we cannot predict the consequences of genetic editing. Apart from that, that is a serious progress against HIV.

A future animal study? How about a PRESENT human study? At this rate, it will be another five years before human trials are conducted. I guess that means another five years of billions per year to collect simply by keeping HIV in human bodies. The Right to Try law should include this new procedure. There are thousands of people willing to sign waivers to act as human guinea pigs! Hopefully, a non-greedy, altruistic scientist in a foreign nation is testing this on humans TODAY!
