Provincetown, Massachusetts, will build a permanent AIDS memorial, the Cape Cod Times reports. The cultural council of the gay-friendly town had been working for a decade to get the funding and permission from the town selectmen. After wrangling for several years over the location of the memorial, they decided it will be placed on the town hall lawn. A request for proposals for the memorial design still needs to be developed. The cultural council needs at least $50,000 for the memorial, but it already has about $20,000.
