I'm concerned about this. I've gone to Prudential's site and looked at the General Criteria. One thing that can exclude people like me from coverage is contracting the virus through blood transfusions. I received a transfusion in the late 80's when I needed surgery. Why are people who became positive this way being excluded? Very disheartening!
Symetra Life will now consider applicants testing positive for HIV similar to Prudential's criteria. They offer coverage guaranteed not to lapse to any age requested. It is most often cheaper than Pru. Now that HIV is being treated as a chronic condition, not a terminal one, maybe more carriers will enter this market.
This sounds great. But what is the difference between Term Life and Life Insurance?
Prudential to Offer Individual Life Insurance to People With HIV i read tis article it is good article
I hope their affiliate in Mexico does something similar.
Thank god we need some insurance bad I would love to have some
This is a long time coming. People are living long time with HIV and to deny them life insurance is cruel and unhumane. People with hiv are no different from people that smoke cigarettes. This is America, and I'm so grateful that someone is willing to help. Hopefully others will join.

There are 2 other carriers considering these cases now. They may not have the blood transfusion exclusion like Prudential.
