As part of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) program, the United States has pledged more than $980,000 to support HIV/AIDS programs in Ethiopian refugee camps.

Currently, there are more than 86,000 refugees living in seven camps in Ethiopia. For people who have been displaced from their homes in times of crisis, gaining access to life-saving antiretroviral medications can be difficult or impossible—especially when they have been forced to leave their hometowns.

The U.S.’s cash contribution has been made to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), an agency that works to resolve refugee programs worldwide.
