Agree with everything said, but want to add that policy and funding reforms at the Federal Level do not necessarily produce positive results at the State or Local levels. Stark example of this is in States that opted-out of expanding Medicare as part of ACA, or localities unwilling to match facilities and funding with Ryan-White and other grant programs. “Opting Out” is another form of structural racism.

The slow response and effort to the HIV pandemic initially was because those affected in the US were thought to be the gay male population. Many of those affected took to the streets to force attention and action to fight this awful disease. As a 35 year survivor it behooves us to take personal responsibility of our health. I do not disagree with this article, but Covid-19 is not a secret, nor are the ways to try to avoid it.
