Thanks for responding Peteskier. Your employer or your dentist legally cannot terminate or not treat you. I am sure your dentist has other patients with your status. It is definitely a relief and weight off my shoulders to be honest and forthcoming. It sounds like you might be early on in your diagnosis and I have been there. It takes time but you will get through this. Divulge as necessary. Wishing you much luck and hope on your journey.

Thank you for your courage and strength carrying HIV stigma over the years. Its unfortunate that still in our society today due to stigma we have to do this. Yes I am one of you who has to keep it a secret to my employer and dentist. Otherwise they will find a reason to terminate or as with a dentist not treat me. It must be such a relief and weight off your shoulders, I bet you feel free. Your story gives me hope that someday I can be at a point in my life where I don't have to hide.
How did she contract it? That part always seems to be left out of these stories. It’s critical to know in order to warn people about how it’s contracted.

Thank you for sharing. I’ve hid HIV from everyone but wife for 4 years. She doesn’t know about the childhood molestation and resultant confused sexuality, the exploration I, for some reason, felt compelled to do before marriage while we were long distance, or that acquisition was because I was drugged and raped. She thinks it was from infidelity with a woman. I hate myself every day. She hates me most days. The relationship is highly abusive. And I feel powerless to seek help. Maybe one day :-(
