A 65 percent spike in the price of natural rubber in the past year will increase the price of tires, gloves and condoms, the Financial Times (FT) reports. Heavy rains in the main rubber-producing region of Southeast Asia have disrupted production. Condom retailers, who have seen the price of condoms go up as much as 20 percent in the past year, are concerned about further increases.
