Whitman-Walker Health updated and published its Safer Sex Guide, with help by the Human Rights Campaign, according to a Whitman-Walker press release.

Available online, the seven-page guide aims to educate about HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including newer prevention methods such as pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP and PEP).

“Many LGBT people don’t see themselves, or their relationships, discussed in mainstream sexual health resources,” said Jay Brown, HRC’s director of research and public education, in the press release. “With rates of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections on the rise among young people and in communities of color, HRC and Whitman-Walker remain committed to providing crucial health and wellness information in a way that is both medically accurate, culturally competent, and judgment-free.”

The guides will be distributed during Washington, DC’s Capital Pride Week (June 3 to 14) as well as at health centers and community events. Whitman-Walker caters to health issues of the LGBT and HIV communities in Washington, DC, and HRC is a national LGBT civil rights group. However, people of all sexual orientations and gender identities can use the guide.
