Just wanted to clarify that truvada, by itself, is not used as a treatment for HIV positive patients but it is contained within certain treatment combos such as complera. The two drugs that make up truvada are part of the three drugs that make up complera. Doctors in Spain have observed that HIV positive people are underrepresented amongst those seriously ill with COVID19 suggesting that HIV antivirals may have some effect on SARS-CoV2. Remdesevir (experimental drug) was derived from Tenofovir.

To Mark Potter, Truvada is used to treat HIV, later it's found that Truvada can be used as prophylaxis to HIV (PReP). I hope it's clear.
Why is hydrochloroquine being added to the standard Truvada regimen for PReP?
A point of clarification between Truvada and Descovy: Both meds contain emtricitabine. Truvada also has tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF), and Descovy has tenofovir alafenamide (TAF), which is a newer version of TDF. Both Truvada and Descovy are elements of treatment for people living with HIV, and they're also used as PrEP by those at risk of contracting HIV. Truvada IS MOST CERTAINLY used in the treatment of HIV positive individuals...I am one. It's clearly stated in the article.
TRUVADA is a combination of 2 drugs EMTRICITABINE and TDF...DESCOVY is a newer version of EMTRICITABINE and TAF...they are both used as PrEP...and one of these two drug combinations is part of several single pill three-in-one HIV medications. Basically some HIV meds are PrEP plus a third medication.

So far we have over 30 confirmed Covid19 patients admitted at our community hospital here in NE Florida with 3 fatal cases and none has HIV as a comorbidity... 1 clinic patient out of more than 500 HIV+ individuals have called with what appears to be Covid19 symptoms.. but not severe enough to be admitted...
