Water is wet! The sky is blue! A drug designed to allow privileged negative gay men to live out their fantasy of reenacting bareback porn results in more stds! Literally every single person saw this coming. Also, we saw the toxic, entitled, dismissive attitudes of Truvada users and eventual worthlessness of antibiotics. Also, we see the public having zero sympathy. Let's stop acting like the rising and setting of the sun is news.
Sadly these figures do not surprise me. Clearly many people still see STDs other than HIV as trivial, at least when compared to HIV. To me no STD or STI is trivial. So, personally I will take precautions by using condoms. I don't want an STD in any part of my body. I urge people to take care of them selves because clearly there are a whole lot of people out there who don't look after them selves nor others.
Whatever happened to "test every 3 months or six partners, whichever occurs first"?
Northern California is not the same place as San Francisco. San Francisco is it's own designated part of California.

Michael, I can only imagine your opinion of hormonal birth control, which was, in fact, invented just so that a much larger population could "bareback". The two drugs in Truvada were "designed" for HIV treatment. Subsequent research found that they also prevent new HIV infections. Despite decades of condom messaging, new HIV infections remained high even in San Francisco: more than 1 per day until 2014. PrEP is an additional tool, and new HIV infections have dropped since its introduction.
