Two founders of OraSure Technologies have launched a new company to make a tuberculosis test, The Morning Call reports. Sam Niedbala, former chief science officer of OraSure, and Mike Gausling, the former CEO, created TB Biosciences with other investors. Using their experience making the OraQuick HIV test, the men are seeking to make a test diagnosing TB via antibodies in the blood of people actively infected. More than 1 million people worldwide are estimated to have HIV and TB coinfection.
