Following a months-long condom crisis in Washington, DC—where concerns were raised about hundreds of thousands of condoms circulated by the Health Department being packaged poorly and suspiciously— Trojan has stepped in to donate 350,000 brand-named condoms to inspire confidence in the city’s effort to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS.

The condoms are set to arrive by the end of the month and have an estimated retail value of nearly $300,000. They will, in turn, be distributed by a coalition of AIDS service and prevention centers throughout the city.

This new supply of reliable condoms comes right at the heels of a public outcry over the quality of the free condoms that have been in circulation in the city since February. DC’s HIV/AIDS Administration is currently re-evaluating its program in response to last week’s reported backlash.
