A group of HIV-positive women in Uganda are demanding the deletion of two clauses in the HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Bill, AllAfrica.com reports. The two clauses criminalize the failure to disclose one’s HIV status and criminalize the intentional transmission of HIV. The women claim that the clauses may lead to stigma and reverse the strides made against HIV/AIDS in Uganda. The women have affirmed that if the clauses are not deleted that they will take the government to court.
