A new campaign in Uganda promotes female condoms, IRIN reports. The campaign includes radio and television spots, billboard ads and posters, as well as discussions on TV talk shows. The goal is to reduce sexually transmitted infections among people ages 18 to 34. Numerous campaigns in the past have promoted male condoms, but advocates believe promoting female condoms could make a difference. More than 10,000 female condoms have been distributed free of charge since the campaign began in June.
