People in the United Kingdom can now test themselves for HIV in the privacy of their own homes, using the first self-testing kit to be sold in the country, according to the Telegraph.

The BioSure HIV Self Test is the only legally approved, CE-marked device for HIV self-testing. (A CE marking denotes that a product conforms to relevant safety rules and can be sold throughout the European market; CE stands for “Conformité Européenne,” which is French for “European Conformity.”)

The BioSure test uses a “tiny drop of blood and gives an extremely accurate, simple to read result in 15 minutes,” according to the company’s website. It sells for 29.95 British pounds, or about $46.

An estimated 26,000 people in the United Kingdom are HIV positive but unaware of their status.
