Why not use the vaccine with the HIV drugs already available to lower the viral load to non existent? We have three types of HIV drugs which work at different levels to block the HIV from binding itself to the healthy CD4 Cells; thus giving the body to recuperate and the viral load to go into the undetectable level. Then on top of that using the therapeutic vaccine to lower the viral load even further to the point in which it is no longer strong enough to infect any cells in the body.

Meh, the article was still more optimistic, honest and fair than anything I've read by Anthony "you're all going to die with this virus, let's focus efforts elsewhere" Fauci.

Those who think like Dr. Doek at NIH have to be called out on two issues - What do we know about addressing escaped virus through monthly or regular "re-boosts" of therapeutic vaccines? Nothing. So how can Dr Doek say further therapeutic vaccine research is pointless? Isn't it NIH's obligation to fund reboost studies and combination studies ASAP, given the Spain trial, to see if that could extend viral suppression? Given that compliance w ART is horrible, why not create new options?
