These particular researchers have NOT tried using Ciclopirox or Deferiprone to induce the natural apoptosis mechanism in these resting infected cells. They should have tried that [induced apoptosis] solution instead of just giving up after their failed "attempt to activate these cells". They should think outside their own box and try something that a competing group of their peers has already shown to be effective. In HIV research, the right hand has no clue what the left hand is doing.

Attacking latent virus seems to be the wrong approach to cure research. The most hopeful research seems to be coming from gene therapy where we modify the T cells to prevent the virus from Attacking t-cells. I fear one reason people feel the need to completely eradicate the HIV virus from the body is due to issues of stigma and shame even if it is not medically neccessary or useful.
