Community pharmacies that provide HIV services with specially trained staff improve the compliance of people with HIV to their medications, according to a study published in the journal AIDS Patient Care and STDs and reported by Medical News Today. In a year, the study followed participants from nine cities in seven states. Users of HIV-specialized Walgreens pharmacies had significantly greater adherence to their drugs. Researchers say the study shows the importance of pharmacists in maintaining adherence.
