There are many ways to get exercise without joining a gym or buying in-home equipment.

For example:

* In the course of a normal day you can park in the parking spot furthest from your destination. The extra walking in both directions really adds up.

* Whenever possible and safe, use the stairs instead of an elevator. Maybe even go up an extra flight.

* Instead of driving, walk or ride a bike to work or to do errands.

* When standing from a sitting position, try to use just your leg muscles and not to push off with your hands.

* My favorite: Get a dog or offer to walk a friend’s or a neighbor’s dog. The commitment will help you to walk more, enjoy the outdoors and will lift your spirits. (It’s also good for the dog!)
