Dear Regan, I cant write as good and clear as you do, but I can help you raise the 100 milion to start working towards a cure. I am not a hero, just a guy infected with HIV, I live in Holland, but if we have to raise 100 milion Ill help, and I know how we can raise the funding we need. Its not a easy task, but i'm not afraid. "Never stop because you are afraid - you are never so likely to be wrong. Never keep a line of retreat: it is a wretched invention. The difficult is what takes a litle time: the impossible is what takes a litle longer. Fridtjof Nansen - norwegian polar explorer "Remember, the brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to stop us out. The brick wals are there to give us a chance to show how badly we whant something. The brick walls are there to stop the people who don't want it badly enough. They're there to stop the other people,"Randy Pauch. There are enouf of us to start to raise 100 milion even if we would only pich in a dollar a week. The cure can be in our own hands, lets not be like the other people. Rob

Great discussion of the current challenges of this epidemic. I am writing from Florida where our extensive waiting list for ADAP is disgraceful. Evidently we have forgotten the lessons of the past. Time for renewed political activism for sure. Thanks!

Dear Regan, Words cannot express how good it feels to know that there is a place like this to discover information, as given so clearly and genuinely as you give it. I am 24 years old and was diagnosed in October. Since the week I was diagnosed what's helped me live each day has been the hope for a cure, and the news on the research. I started searching google news religiously for 'hiv cure' everyday. It goes without saying that I have become a part of the hiv positive community at a time where the hope for a cure has never been more supported by scientific research before. After reading this post, all the preconceived notions and negative ideas I had based on my few experiences with someone in the activist community who I've met since my diagnosis who makes it clear to me that he does not want a cure and much rather never see it happen - I can feel at one with you and thus I'm sure the majority of us who would indeed continue the fight with the goal of a cure as central as it has always been to me. There are many immediate needs for those who aren't on meds for example, that need to be met, but 'until there's a cure', I am honored and tremendously grateful to know that you and this organization (of which I have been highly recommended by said person and thus had some preconceived notions about it being in line with his ...self-aggrandizing goals) I can trust and know to be in line with what I see as truth. My conspiracy theories and negative view have been alleviated by reading this article, and by seeing the coverage of Timothy Brown and other reports on the research I've been reading (and being told by said person that it's likely all a hoax 'i can say I found a cure and it would get in google news' - he would say) here make me committed to supporting POZ and all your and its endeavors, I truly feel I have a community now, I am not alone. THANK YOU!!

Thankyou for this article. Thankyou for what you are doing. I am feeling a little glimmer of something wonderful....its called HOPE. God has let me live to see this day. Even if I dont make it to the cure, I am glad to know many others will. :)

Regan, Thank you for such a comprehensive, clear-eyed look at where we are today in the world of AIDS. Having been diagnosed with AIDS in 1995 and given a similar diagnosis to yours--18 to 24 months to live--I continue to be optimistic that we can get a handle on this disease if we persuade the policy-makers to invest the resources to make it happen. There is no shortage of those of us willing to commit to the struggle. Judi
