Thanks for this, Peter.
This is why I left L.A. 10 years ago and came to New Mexico, for the benefits. Here in NM, poz patients have very little to worry about, cost wise, because of the many "supplemental" programs offered to us. What medicare doesn't cover spills into one of three additional state-sponsored programs. I have yet to pay out-of-pocket for all the services I've utilized (pills to ambulance/hospitalization). Many pozzies have relocated here for the benefits, then stay for the low cost of living and cheap real estate (after moving here, I picked up a huge home in a great neighborhood with an in-ground pool for $150,000). Something to think about... Bob
the norm is...it starts in California and will eventually go thru the country to the east coast!!! So i guess we can expect cuts to our programs in N.Y.C.!!!!!
Nice to hear you guys are back! I am an HIV positive woman, a HIV test counselor and manage our SEP in San Luis Obispo, both of which are being hit hard with the budget cuts. Kudos to you! Lo
