Oriol, I want to tell you, I enjoy reading your writings and blogging. This article resonates with me, I have never been to a city as large as yours, just a guy grown up in the woods, yet, your words really got me to feel your experience, and what your heart was feeling, thank you for writing this. I get melancholy about many of these same issues you list, and in that, think that I am alone, and should remain up-beat all the time. I grew up in Alaska, now live in Nevada, and it is a struggle to get Bureaucrats here to understand that ADAP/Ryan White funds are there to save lives, preserve lives, CONSTANTLY, to act expeditiously; I am constantly confronted with Ryan White money is there to create health care jobs and offices, and that clients come after everything else is satisfied. Nuff, complaining. Thanks for you articles, especially this one. LarryD

It is correct to assume that an issue like HIV is remembered and then forgotten the day after such an event had beens staged. It saddens me to say that the focus has left our own backyards years ago only to focus on third world counties and fundng their needs. False claims that people are living longer with HIV skewed by the fact that out brothers are now dying of related causes ignoring the reality that these causes are directly related to their initial infection. As insurance plans get tighter since the new Obama healthcare administration has taken over, the out of pocket expense for Americans will reach new highs and become less obtainable for even those employed in 2011. I will admit that i do not understand the goals of programs that are to help and protect the rights of those infected with HIV as well as let my ignorance stand as a testament to their causes as they have taken a giant step backwards. The red ribbon has been replaced with a pink ribbon ans it is the living that we should now be praying for.
