P.S. Aging can include early experiences of Erikson's Developmental Stages, Kubler-Ross's Stages regarding dying and death, as well as an onslaught of gerontological matters that occur earlier for HIVers, such as end-of-life issues (i.e., legal and funeral planning), retrospection and reminiscing, facing "retirement" with different expectations, leaving a legacy for family, especially children. I am 50-years old, and I am frequently going through the same processes as my mother of 72. :)

Good morning, I appreciate your viewpoint and manner of writing. It spoke to me in a way that many other authors have not. I am in the process of learning all the wonders of social media and branding myself effectively. Should you have the time to follow me and comment, on occasion, it would be greatly appreciated. Although you may find yourself wondering about my pontificating, I want to bring a similar female voice to the table. I think your input could be invaluable! Warmly, Bethany

Nice personal opinion but not based on scientific evidence. You just confirmed what many people think that society thinks that we're complaining for no reason (we're just crybabies). The other message your sending is that if your suffering, it's your fault for not living a healthy life. A very high percentage of us who got infected also suffered from mental health issues, that only gets worse with HIV. Do they have the same rates of lung cancer??? Priviledged much!

continued...your comment ''Simply put, if you don’t smoke, don’t do drugs and do live relatively healthy, little of the findings in this sort of article apply to you" Total nonsense and an insult to those who live a "healthy" life and are suffering. Another comment, "The fact that people with HIV age earlier than their negative compatriots is widely accepted, but is it true? Not everybody thinks so" I really don't care what they think, plenty of peer reviewed articles show that it is true! conti

Really disappointed with some of the conclusions the author came to. I will only comment on a few, first of all, "The incidence of lung cancer has nothing to do with HIV itself" Yes I know our population has a higher rate of smoking but it doesn't explain the much higher rate of lung cancer and your mistaken if you think that lung cancer in HIV+ only happen in smokers. According to my lung specialist only about 25% of lung cancers are in smokers in the general population. Continued....

I'm 70 years old and was diagnosed with HIV a year ago. I'm on a once a day pill and feel grateful that I didn't have to endure the heavy pill burden so many had to endure in the past. Reading the posts here give me hope for the future.

Can't say my life is kind of normal aging after 35 years HIV positive. Now on disability after heart conditions, asthma, neuropathies, cognitive issues, fatigue... Probably should have slowed down in 2010 after almost dying from Bacterial Pneuomnia. Pre 2010 most issues were neuropathy, shingles and bronchitis episodes. Been with my partner 19 years. So, some of us have issues and some don't. For me HIV has pushed my limits since 2010, but hanging in there. Wish all us "gray" folks WELL!!

I am 63 and was diagnosed HIV+ when I went into a arthritis study three years ago. I never had any symptoms and take Triumeq once a day every day with no side effects. It costs over $3000 per month and I have absolutely no hope that anyone will find a cure when Big Pharma can milk me and others for over $3000 per month. My HIV doctor (possibly the best HIV doctor in the Midwest) agreed to be my GP only if I got my blood sugar under control. I did...he is.
