I work in healthcare so... In defense of the doctor you describe :)... we ask what meds you're taking as a way to verify/test your adherence. It might make us seem disinterested, but we are studying your lab values, analyzing your overall health and trying to elicit symptoms. Many doctors are mostly focused on what's "under the hood" and don't offer counseling or a listening ear. Think of your doc as a body mechanic! If you want more then you might need a counselor, psychologist etc. who has the time to chat. It's sad but true...
