A simple analogy would be that it is easier to kick someone when they are already down. It doesn't matter how they got ton the ground to start with. For 25 years we have heard about methods of disease transmission, but discussion of diseases that facilitate transmission has always dwelled on a very narrow focus. Now that so many small aspects of HIV infection are understood, it is time to start looking at large groups of these aspects as a whole, since HIV is such a complex, involved, changing and interacting virus. Broad pictures can be confusing if you dwell on the minute of each ingredient, but sometimes there is the wow of recognition in what was not seen before.
Finally someone thinking outside the box and the standard co-infection with other sexually transmitted disease blah blah blah phrases that we are so tired of with something that makes sense.
