Thank U 4 discussing this topic.This yr I'll hit 26yrs after testing pos, 21yrs old.It was 2yrs ago that I attended my first conference on HIV;HINAC.I would not have been able 2 attend had I not received a scholarship.Since then I've attended several others thanks2 financial help.I wish there were more ways2 help regular pos pp 2 attend these life changing conferences.I learned much about myself&felt alive&having a purpose.I wish more ASO's could participate&helps clients attend. #HIVisNOTaCRIME

These conferences take place with public funds (directly or indirectly) that are supposed to be used for evidence based interventions and reducing disparities. If CDC required that 50% of travel and hotel expenditure by ASOs/CBOs be redirected to client organizing and advocacy and grassroots prevention by peers it would be the start to make a difference. In the US we need a 50 state strategy not a continuation of the past 4 decades.
