Vaping can tip you off to heart failure. I started Vaping for the same reasons stated in the video. I developed a hideous cough and shortness of breath. Turns out the vapor was adding water into my already saturated lungs. Went to emergency room in the middle of the night and was immediately on lasix. Lost 15 lbs of fluid and had a triple bypass. Vaping or smoking is not an option if you suspect heart failure.

I had to quit smoking in 2000 as I was having my chest cut open for a quadruple bypass. They couldn't give me nicotine gum or patches, as nicotine constricts your coronary arteries. Chantix hadn't been invented yet so it was cold turkey. It was the most difficult thing I've ever done, especially since I had tried numerous times, and the longest I went was 3 weeks. I was also living with a smoker at the time, so my chances of success were worse, but I DID succeed. Not sorry.

I vape now also after years of on and off smoking. One of my ID docs very much encourages it over smoking and has discussed the minuscule risks associated with vaping compared to smoking. That seems obvious but unfortunately there seems to be similar stigma associated with vaping as there is smoking. Ugh! Oh well. I’ll just keep doing what I feel is best for me which, like you, includes lowering the amount of nicotine in my ejuice.

It’s hard to believe that a magazine for people with HIV would promote vaping tobacco.

Is this meant to be a feel good piece? An advertisement for vaping?

I was happy to see this article. After a 17 year adventure of chewing nicotine gum, and occasionally sneaking a cigarette, I am now vaping. I scoffed at the idea as well, but this trend is phenomenal. You can keep your same nicotine level if you do not want to quit, or slowly reduce the levels over time. Vaping is a lifestyle choice, and you must do homework to navigate the switch. There are many informative websites to help, or stop by a local vape store.
