Thanks, Joseph. The history is important. Also, in 1983, the US NIH sent a team to Kinshasa, Zaire (now Democratic Republic of the Congo) to look for AIDS (Piot et al, Lancet, 1984). Already by late 1981-early 1982, doctors in Europe had recognized AIDS in patients from Africa. Regards, David
