I wrote a piece this year on my own recollections as an 11 year old of that day. http://www.dogsoverlava.com/?p=341 What I didn't include in the article was that I lost my father at age 31 in December as well and that like you, December carries on oddness about it for me. I've been reflecting lately on the transience of memory (and lived experience) and how death or loss is a disembodiment of memory. The only way to keep it from being lost to time (as it fades) is to retell it, or re-embody it as you have done in your book. These acts of remembrance reestablish form on which memory fights to remain alive.
