I think it would be great as im a women who has hiv and to be honest it is a lot harder for me to date when i bring up hiv i cant have kids anymore so i have no problem putting gel up there to prevent infection in someone else. But the risk would still be there anyway for oral sex so idk but im game to try it out if it works awesome maybe i can finally have a pertially normal life lol if not thats ok too. thank you for your artical and have a great week.
Why can't the gel be used by men having anal sex? Is the vagina tougher than the anal canal of a man? If the gel works in a vagina, would it do the same in a man's anal canal?
Great commentary on the gender issue regarding microbicides. You are a thoughtful and considerate man and Gwen is fortunate to have found you. Actually let change that and say, you are both blessed to have found each other. Freedom using microbicides instead of condoms is a great theory but it is always with caution. In the past every time we get some new freedoms around HIV, infections seem to rise because the issue becomes complacency as in the case with the discovery of effective combination therapy distorting the truth about HIV/AIDS. Having said that moving forward into this new world with more options for men and women is very promising and someday even a vaccine may be closer than it once was.
Great article Shawn, Gwen is definitely very smart woman, i really liked your message and agree with it.

Thank you for that. Gender inequality, especially in regards to sexual responsibility, is so entrenched in society that many people don't see it anymore. Thanks for not doing that, and for respecting your wife enough to be able and willing to see it from her perspective.
