A rose by any other name, as Shakespeare put it. Whether the virus is called by its full name "monkey pox" or "MPX" no one is fooled. The pain and social isolation the virus causes are not diminished. Nor is the underlying message that to be a minority leaves one suspect of being infected with the monkeypox virus. Minorities face similar ostracism when reporting statistics on HIV infection. Despite being the faces of disease minorities are less likely to have easy access to treatment.
