About two years ago I substitute taught in a health class in high school. Noticing the handouts after I'd handed them out, I asked if, since they were writing about sex, they knew about HIV. "Oh, yeah, we did that last month," was the dismissive answer. That is, until I suggested they go to the computer in the back of the room and google PrEP, PEP and HIV. "Why didn't they tell us about this?" was their astounded comment. "They probably didn't know," said I. "It's now your job to teach your teacher what you found on Google!" After some muttering and side conversation, one kid said, "I've got a party Saturday night with a few others. Where can I get PrEP?" "It's still in clinical trials," said I. He then asked what the chemical difference was between PEP and PrEP. "Not much," I said, "they're pretty much the same dose of the same pill." "Ah, that's how I'll get it, then," said the kid. "All I've got to do is lie, and I already know how to do that!" All I can say is that it's about time Project Inform met its duty to actually inform people how to end this epidemic! Why couldn't you get to a porno producer and do a video? Why do you let groups like AIDS Action, and AIDS PLA continue to delay, defer, and bury these options? Is it ignorance or, more probably, genocide! PEP and PrEP have actually been around for more than two decades, initially as shots of AZT when nurses had accidental needle sticks, and only after 1990 or so as nPEP ("Non-professional Post Exposure Prophylaxis" as if medical professionals were chemically different from the rest of the world). It's already a slow cure!

Uh, shouldn't you disclose the fact that you're a shill for Gilead Sciences? It would only be ethical. Oh, that's right....you're not remotely concerned about ethics.
